First Farm Visit

Today was our first visit to the school farm as we were unable to make it over during the rainy season.  It began with a long walk to the farm, making observations on the way.  For example, we observed the various flowers and other things in nature on the path to the farm. We also stopped at one point and closed our eyes to focus on the different sounds in the environment.  As it was an introductory visit, we learned about the different areas of the farm such as the compost area, frog enclosure, pig pen, goat house, chicken pen, duck pen, the lemon orchard and the rice paddy.  At the lemon orchard we picked some lemons to bring back to make juice in the classroom.  We will be visiting the farm every Wednesday going forward.
