“Exploring the beautiful city of Lampang“

The boarders at Prem grades 7&8 were in for a full-day adventure that started at bright and early at 7:00 a.m. since it takes about 2 hours to reach this destination.

Boarders got ready and jumped in the van to head out to Lampang. The city of Lampang is much more laid-back than the city of Chiang Mai.

First stop! The kids were super excited to ride on a horse-drawn carriage around the old city. The single horse carriage is often known as Rot ma taxi and it was the most common means of transportation in the province Lampang. Until this day the horse carriages are still used as a daily transportation by the locals.

Next stop, was giving students the opportunity to taste some authentic “Khao Soi” at the local Khao Soi Muslim restaurant. The Khao Sour in Lampang has a much milder taste the than Khao Soi one can typically buy in Chiang Mai.

Third stop, students went to go see the tremendous and majestic temple of “Wat Phra That Lampang Luang.” Before heading to the temple the boarders had the chance to stop and get some ice cream to cool down a bit as temperatures began to increase. They did a circuit of the Pagoda at  'Wat Lampang Luang and explored the inside of the museums.

One cool fact about the Wat Phra That Lampang Luang is that it the most highly revered temple in Thailand. There is also a Buddhist legend surrounding this temple:

According to legend the Buddha once visited the site some 2,500 years ago and donated a piece of hair, which is now enshrined in the temple’s large chedi. Equally important, the temple is one of the best examples of Lanna style architecture in Thailand. Many of the temples in Thailand have been restored using modern materials in order to make it appear nicer, however, the Wat Phra That Lampang Luang has been preserved in its original state.

Last stop, before heading back to Chiang Mai ,boarders stopped at the beautiful Delizia restaurant. This restaurant is known for their delicious organic honeydew melon. Let's just say our boarders were fully satisfied from the various food options available in this trendy restaurant/cafe.

It was an awesome day full of many adventures, laughter and most important delicious and tasty food. Ajarn Anond, Ajarn Alex and teaching interns from Denmark Maddie and Fanzi accompanied the students on this lovely day trip.

After this trip, boarders were left asking…Where to next?
