Digital Citizenship - Grade 11s visit the Middle School

Our theme in Homeroom for this week has been Online Safety. The groups have been considering their own use of the internet and how to safeguard themselves from potential dangers online. Some of the Grade 11 English Language Acquisition students have been covering the same topic in their course and they visited the Middle School groups to give them presentations about what they had learned. They not only covered issues such as dealing with strangers online and privacy on social media but also talked about academic honesty and the dangers of plagiarism.

The Middle School students had the chance to ask their older peers about their experience online, and therefore were able to hear relevant advice from role models. Considering that some of us teachers don't have a Facebook account and haven't a clue what Snapchat even is, this was a very valuable experience for them!
