Day 4: 3D Art & Lanna Culture

We’ve had a great week of day-out field trips with the IEP juniors this past week. We finished off our explorations with a stop at the 3D Art Museum in Chiang Mai, followed by three additional museums focusing specifically on northern Thai (Lanna) culture.

The students loved taking pictures, playing with the power of illusions at the 3D museum:

After the 3D museum, students learnt about the rich history of Chiang Mai at the Chiang Mai Folk Art Museum; this was a powerful way for us to incorporate the local culture into our learning, which is important to us as Prem learners.

Of course no journey would be complete without a visit to the cafe! The students and teachers alike loved the drinks and cool atmosphere at Cafe de Museum. The Lanna Folk Museum’s own cafe, which I can not recommend enough.

Friday February 8th, today, we will spend time in the classroom, making presentations reflecting upon our weekly excursions. The afternoon will be spent learning how to cook Thai food from Prem’s own top chef, Khun Nae. Students will be fortunate enough to prepare two courses today, so I hope they save something delicious to bring home for some of you parents this evening!
