The Prem Model United Nations Team enjoyed another successful Chiang Mai Model United Nations Association (CMMUN) conference, held 9-10 November in Chiang Mai. Sponsored this year by Lanna International School, the conference assembled over 220 students from 12 schools in our region. 25 Prem students from grades 8 to 12 participated, representing 13 different countries and serving as Chairs in four of the five committees.
Prem delegates distinguished themselves from the start. The role of Chair is awarded by application, as is the role of representing significant countries; four Prem students were selected as Chairs and three earned the right to represent significant countries, including two in the Security Council.
Prem students also earned several Awards; Best New Delegate in the Health and Youth committee, best Chair of the conference, and one student earned three awards – Best Delegate in the Security Council, Best Delegate in the General Assembly, and Best Resolution of the conference.
This coming March 2019, Prem will again host the 1-day CMMUN conference. We anticipate over 200 student participants and hope to include many Prem students new to MUN. We also plan to send a delegation to the THAI-MUN conference in Bangkok in early April 2019. Stay tuned!
