SCHOOL SUPPLIES DONATED TO MIGRANT SCHOOL
Many thanks to the Prem community for donating unused school items to the Min Thu Won and Parahita Htoo schools […]
The Prem Model United Nations team participated in the annual Chiang Mai MUN Conference hosted by Grace International School on 18-19 November 2016. Sixteen students from grades 7-12 played the roles of diplomats representing countries as varied as Algeria, Bangladesh, France, Britain, and Czechoslovakia in UN committees such as the Human Rights Council and Security Council.
These committees debated current events, such as religious freedom, the rights of journalists and controlling trade in weapons. The conference also included historical committees, which debated historical events, such as the use of nuclear weapons by the USA in WWII.
Three of our MUN team, Simon, Namejs, and Ploy served as Chair of their committees, managing the delegates’ debate and applying parliamentary procedures. Rasnam, representing Britain in the historical committee on Imperialism, earned the Best Delegate Award in her committee. All of our team members made speeches and contributed to debates and resolutions, and had a memorable time doing it with over 200 students from nine schools.
We look forward to the one-day conference to be hosted by Chiang Mai International School in March 2017, and to Chiang Mai MUN next November.
