It‘s that wonderful time of year again where we celebrate Literacy and Mother Tongue at Prem in the Junior School.
We have been very busy organising great learning experiences to develop a love of literacy for the upcoming literacy week from February 14th to February 22nd in the Junior School.
There are many fun activities planned and we will end the week with Mother Tongue activities on Monday 22nd February. We are so lucky to have so much diversity with different languages at Prem and so it’s a great opportunity to celebrate them all. After the Mother Tongue Assembly, the junior school children will head straight to Mother Tongue activities where our parents in the community very kindly organise crafts, cooking and games.
The activities for Literacy Week are chosen to enhance a love of reading and writing. There will be a book mark design competition, an opportunity to swap books, a poem in your pocket day, and match the favourite book to the teachers and students. Students are being asked to bring in their favourite book and write a review and recommendation. There will also be buddy reading in our mother tongue languages. Ajarn Nichole is a spoken artist and will be doing specific workshops with the grades 2-4. The grand finale of the week on Friday February 19th is the ever popular dress up as your favourite book character day.
