Over the last 11 weeks during our COVID-19 lockdown, our remaining 15 boarders used our Boarding Bites cafe as a way of purchasing their treats knowing that they were raising money for the following 2 causes: Ban Pa Khao Lam border school in Mae Taeng, which is for hill tribe children, and The Asian Children’s Foundation also in Mae Taeng – it consists of 25 children aged 1 year old to 18 years old. The children who live there are there for a number of reasons; their family member killed themselves, or are in prison because of drugs, or who didn’t want their children, or who couldn’t support them. As it is a smaller foundation, it was felt that it needed support. As a result, Boarding Bites raised 13,200THB, which was used to buy essential for the above charities.
Piñata Night!
The boarders experienced a piñata on Saturday; they took it in turns to be blindfolded and hit a piñata. They made three piñatas decorated as: a strawberry, a television, and one with PREM painted on it. They enjoyed themselves immensely!
This was followed by making their own tacos:
On Monday we gave out certificates to the boarders, focusing on their personal qualities!
