Not only is it the end of another week of boarding but also the end of the 1st month of the year and what a month it has been for all of us. Our borders should be congratulated and commemorated for their endurance and their capacity to face the challenges that the start of 2021 has given them. Some have quarantined, all have faced remote learning, some are new and some are still to return but no matter where they are, or where they were they are all part of our Prem family and this week has been another demonstration of this.
During prep time students show that learning outside the classroom continues with smiles on their faces and a real sense of togetherness and support for each other. Oh and that they can also have some fun too, from sharing a musical note, to practicing some pushups, preparing a snack or enjoying a game of pool… it is clear that there is a real sense of community that is growing and getting tighter by the day.
Weekend boarding activities continue to expand with new offerings for borders to sign up for that include a regular Friday evening movie and Saturday morning breakfast club, where crumpets were made, bacon fried and eggs turned into omelette. It was amazing to see some grade 11 and 12s venturing out of the beds before the clock struck noon to eat, chat and watch some basketball. A. Erica also joined the family to cook with Jerry and Sarah, and Jerry’s chicken was delicious.
Students also took part in the SmileMile challenge, either by taking a walk or a run around the campus, a great way to get some exercise and gain a sense of achievement. With others on Sunday taking to the court and having a game of basketball possibly inspired by watching the professionals the day before…
Great end to a great week of being back in the classrooms, back to face to face, and back to enjoying boarding at Prem.
