There was not only a festival with International Day in the school, but an International flavor of cricket played at the Oval at the weekend. Hosted by Lanna CC, an International team from Australia, played over two days against a Phuket Australian side.
The Saturday game boasted over 750 runs in just 80 overs!
The "Vics" enjoyed a superb batting track scoring 463 – 1 in their 40 overs, with ex -players Grahame Wood (209) and Lenny Pascoe (233) scoring double centuries each, and Pascoe being the only wicket for Phuket just one ball short of the 40 overs. Phuket made a very valiant effort scoring 302 all out. Tony Adams from Perth made a classic 109 and there were other contributions throughout the team. Alas, the bowling of Trevor Chappell, with figures of 4 – 54 restricted the Island side.
On the Sunday, the 20/20 format was used, again resulting in the Vics winning.
Vics: 210 – 6 with Barry Sayer scoring 100 not out.
Phuket: 158-7 with Adams again starring with a 75. Pat Holland taking six wickets with his leg spin.
