ARThailand: Grade 3 work with World Class Beatboxer!

Due to the ongoing global situation with COVID-19 we were sadly unable to deliver our residencies with the Canadian Museum of modern Art and with Dr. Nadine Elzein from Lady Margaret Hall Oxford University. Despite this disappointment we have been able to find innovative ways to ensure Prem’s Young People are still able to benefit from and be inspired by ongoing creative collaborations with outside practitioners and organisations.

I would like to thank A. Claire for working so diligently with our MYP drama students and for leading on the invitation from the Almeida theater London and the Company Three Theatre Arts organisation. You will have been able to read about and see the time capsule videos that were born out of this project via A. Claire’s links provided last week.

In addition to this collaboration and project we were absolutely delighted to be able to work with the world champion beatboxer and musical loop-master SK Shlomo. From working with artists such as Ed Sheeran Bjork and Damon Albarrn and with recent project work with British author & poet laureate Michael Rosen, over the last couple of weeks, Shlomo delivered virtual engagement sessions with our grade 3 students.

Using beatboxing as a provocation and looking at ways in which humans can express themselves creatively, Grade 3 were guided through a short creative process and encouraged by SK Shlomo to find ways to express themselves In innovative ways via Prem’s online learning platforms.

Please see the link from Shlomo HERE giving a brief overview of this most recent Residency collaboration.

Moving forward into next year, we are excited to be assessing the hundreds of applications that Prem’s ARThailand programme has received and using this time to explore new and meaningful ways to to integrate artists, creative practitioners and creative thinkers into our work in 2021 – 2022
