Another Achievement to Celebrate!

Congratulations to Poon and his U15 Thailand National Team for winning the gold medal at the Southeast Asian Ice Hockey Tournament in Malaysia in September. We are so proud of you!

It is also a great pleasure to have Poon share with us his exciting and successful story:
“This year I had the chance to join the Ice Hockey competitions called “Southeast Asian Games Youth Cup”. This tournament was held in Sunway Pyramid Ice Rink at Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia between 27-30 September 2017. In this tournament, there were 5 participating nations: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore and Thailand. At the end of the competition, Thailand was crowned champion of this Southeast Asian Game tournament.
I play as a defenseman in the U15 Thailand National Team. I started to play Ice Hockey in March 2015 and I had the goal to be on the Thailand National Team since then. So I continue to practice Ice Hockey 4 days a week after school. During those two years, I joined many tournaments in the country and also international tournaments in order to gain new experiences in this sport.
Finally, my dream came true. On November 2016, the Ice Hockey Association of Thailand announced the candidates for the Thailand National Team of 16 people. It took three months for the Ice Hockey Association of Thailand’s Coach to choose 16 players from all youth players in Thailand. After that, I needed to practise with my team every weekend in Bangkok for eight months.
Then the Southeast Asian Game started. First game (Thailand against Malaysia), Thailand won 9:7. Second game, Thailand won Philippines for 15:0. Third game, Thailand won Singapore for 8:1. Then final game, Thailand won Malaysia again for 11:5.

After the tournament, I will continue to practise hard because I love Ice Hockey and I want to continue with the Thailand National Team in a larger tournament such as Asian winter game.”
