A virtual  MUN  conference comes to Prem

On Friday  the Prem Model United Nations delegations participated in the season’s first Model UN conference, which brought together, virtually, delegates from schools all over the Chiang Mai area. The delegates were involved all day in proposing, debating, amending and passing resolutions on issues as diverse as nuclear proliferation, human rights in Kashmir, the role of artificial intelligence in medicine, and the rights of LGTBQ communities. Our delegates performed extremely well, winning:
  • Delegates’ Choice, Best Delegate in the Security Council: Steve
  • Delegates’ Choice, Best Delegate in the General Assembly: Maurits
  • Delegates’ Choice, Best Delegate in The Who: Fabian
  • Delegates’ Choice, Best Delegate in the UNHRC: Lunning
  • Best Speech in the General Assembly: Steve and Nico
While these awards recognize the delegates’ performance, the most impressive part of the experience is that this was a completely student-organized and driven conference. The students did almost everything on their own and proved tremendous leadership, organization, drive, resilience, problem-solving and teamwork.
