A message from the SS Principal

Dear Senior School Parent/Guardian:

I hope this note finds you well. This is Week 13 of Term 3, the final week before a much anticipated school holiday albeit in unprecedented and uncertain times for Prem and the entire global community.

To begin the week, I would like to share some updates for our Senior School community. I hope these are helpful and informative especially for some upcoming events that we’re adapting in light of school closure and the new routine of remote teaching and learning.

  • Thank you to the over 40 parents and guardians who took the time to share feedback to the most recent Remote Learning survey. The feedback is helpful and will all be considered as we move forward with teaching during school closure. We will share a more detailed summary later in the week and know that if you didn’t complete the survey there is still time to do so. The survey link is here. Also note that the Senior School staff will review the results and will reflect on how we use it to continue to grow and support our students. We also thank the numerous parents who expressed their appreciation to the Senior School teachers and team who are teaching in this new reality in uncertain and difficult circumstances. The kind words are very encouraging and appreciated by the team.

  • One popular suggestion from the survey was asking if lunch could be at 12:00pm and not at 1:00pm. In the remote learning environment we don’t depend on sharing the cafeteria with the Junior school and so we are going to move lunch to 12:00pm. Basically, Period 4 will now start at 1:00pm followed by Period 6 at 2:00pm. We will start this adaptation on Monday March 30 and hope this might help with some routines at home and for our few remaining boarding students who have lunch service at 12:00pm. Thank you for the suggestion.

  • The Senior school team wants to thank you all for adjusting your routines and schedules to accommodate and provide a good environment considering the unprecedented school closure. With ⅓ of the world’s population on lockdown, likely the same percentage of students around the globe are facing a school closure situation. We realize this is difficult and poses many challenges for each Prem family. We want to thank you for your understanding and we encourage each of you to stay positive and know we will get through this with new learning and empathy.

  • It is very likely that we will not have our traditional Parent Teacher Student Conferences on April 20 as was planned. While it is not official, it is likely we will be continuing with our remote teaching to start Term 4 and as such we are planning to offer our Parent Conferences differently. We will have more details soon about the format and technology we will use, but we wanted to share that the decision has been made to offer these differently in Term 4. To be clear, they will NOT happen on April 20 in the Senior School but hopefully within the first 10 days of Term 4.

  • The IT department has shared that we still don’t have all Senior School parents/guardians signed in, at least once, to Engage. If this is the case, please don’t hesitate to message support@ptis.ac.th and the IT team will send you login details. This will be important for following the remote learning experience for your daughter/son but it will allow you to sign up for the upcoming Parent Teacher

Conferences. More information will be forthcoming.

  • Finally, Friday April 3 is the last day of Term 3. Please look forward to Term 3 learning behaviour subject Reports being distributed electronically.

We wish you all a very pleasant and safe week ahead. Please let us know if there are any questions or comments related to these updates or anything else Senior School related at this time.

Thank you for your partnership and support.
